The Best New County Songs

Published: February 27, 2014

This is a list of the best new country songs - think Kenny Chesney, Tim McGraw, Taylor Swift, etc.  While it is almost impossible to choose a favorite song out of all the amazing hits out there, this list reflects ten of the best that you should definitely add to your playlist!

  1. Hello World - Lady Antebellum

This song probably isn't the first song you would think of when you think new country.  While it was a hit a couple years back, it is not Lady Antebellum's most popular song, but the message is so inspiring.  It is catchy, encouraging, and motivational.  It is definitely a great song to listen to if you're feeling down on life and if you need a reminder of why you are here on this Earth.

  2. Pirate Flag - Kenny Chesney

This is an upbeat, fun, catchy song by the man himself - Kenny Chesney.  While listening to this song, you can close your eyes and spend the duration of the song laying on a beach somewhere, drinking a pina colada.  Warning: listening to this song may cause you to immediately pack up, quit your job, and become a beach bum.

  3. Something Like That - Tim McGraw

A popular favorite among country fans, this song puts you in first love mode.  I can't be held responsible if this song makes you track down your first love and rekindle old feelings, but I can tell you that it will put you in a great head space and make you happy.

  4. Every Storm (Runs Out of Rain) - Gary Allan

This song came out during a difficult time in my life, and I was very thankful for it.  Gary Allan offers a positive message, reminding us through music that no matter how tough or hopeless our life may seem, things will always get better, the sun will always shine again, and every storm will run out of rain.

  5. Red - Taylor Swift

I have a very difficult time considering this song to be new country, as it has a heavy pop feel to it, but it is constantly on country radio, so it's going on this list.  Once again, I can't be responsible if this song makes you run back to the euphoric, crazy feelings associated with first love.  Or if it makes you sing and dance like a crazy person in the company of others.

  6. Don't Think I Don't Think About It - Darius Rucker

Feeling regretful about leaving an ex?  Wishing you could go back in time and undo some decisions?  This is the song for you.  Hootie himself made a name for himself in the country music genre with this hit.  It's nostalgic, raw, and can relate to many of us.  Definitely a great song.

  7. Crash My Party - Luke Bryan

This is one of those songs that I've banned because it reminds me of an old situation, and I tend to ban some of those songs, but that doesn't mean you shouldn't listen to it!  It's a great song, and probably belongs higher on the list, but for my own personal reasons, we'll leave it at number seven.  Just check it out.  You won't regret it.

  8. Bottoms Up - Brantley Gilbert

Oh man.  This is a good song.  It's catchy, fun, sexy, and passionate.  It makes you want to sing along with Mr. Gilbert's raspy, sensual voice.  It also makes you want to find someone you can have crazy adventures with.  It's a newer hit that is sure to stick around on the charts for a long time.

  9. Pretty Girl - Kipp Morril

This is a beautiful, idealistic song about the way we all wish things would work on.  Kipp Morril sings about his dream of meeting the right girl, sharing a dance with her, taking her home to meet his mom, having a baby girl, growing an apple tree.. you get the picture.  It's soft, pretty, and what everyone dreams of having.

  10. Wild One - Faith Hill

This is an older song, though the sound can still be considered new country.  It's spunky, fun, and inspiring to girls and women everywhere to take charge, be who you are, and to not overthink things.  It's a catchy beat that girls everywhere would probably love to sing on karaoke after a few margartias.

I love country music with a passion, so listing only ten of the best is a huge challenge, but these ten songs, including the #1 "Hello World", are a great start for anyone looking to update their playlist with great new country songs.  Enjoy listening to these and then explore more songs by these incredible artists!
