Books Every Single Person Should Read
This is a list of several books from different generes that I have read, enjoyed and think that everybody should read. They vary in length and storylines as well as what age range they are appropriate for. This list is a collection of both classics and more recent books that if you haven't read, you should.
Where the Heart Is by Billie Letts
This is a book that was turned into a movie which starred Natalie Portman. The book is about a single mother who gets dumped at a small town Wal-Mart and has to struggle to keep herself alive. She goes into labor while sneaking around and living in the Wal-Mart and becuase of this becomes somewhat famous and gets some unwanted attention. It is a great story, beautifully written about a woman overcoming obstacles in her life to make sure that she provides not only for herself, but her baby and keeps both herself and her baby happy.
The Odyssey by Homer
This is a required reading book for a lot of highschoolers. I read it as a freshman and fell in love with the story. It is a little long, but it is for sure a story that everyone should familiarize themselves with. The Odyssey is a story about Odysseus and his journey home. It follows all the temptations that Odysseus experiences.
Harry Potter and the Prizoner of Azkabahn by JK Rowling
I know it might seem a little wierd for me to just include one of the seven books of the famous series on the list, but this one is indeed the best of all of them in my opinion. This is the third book in the series about the boy wizard and follows Harry as he discovers just who his godfather is, and learns more about his parents.
Paper Towns by John Green
This is technically a young adult novel, but the themes that it expresses are ones that adults can get a lot out of as well. The story is one that not only is about people finding themselves but it is also about them finding each other. It's a love story but not in your typical sense.
This is a list of books that you should read, and if you already have you should read them again. If you were to only read one book on this list I would tell you to read The Odyssey. It is one of my favorite classics, and I have read it multiple times. These are all great books, in very different ways.
