Best Bedtime Stories For The Little Ones

Published: February 23, 2014

I have always enjoyed reading and when I became a mom I was super excited to read some of my favorite childhood books to them. Because I did read to them a lot I feel that this inspired their love for reading now and I am a proud 1st time Grandma and love reading to her. So here are some of the best books I feel for bedtime stories.

  1. Goodnight Moon by: Margaret Wise Brown

This is not one I read when I was a child but one I was introduced to when my first child started Headstart. Goodnight Moon is a simple but wonderful book about saying goodnight to the things in a child's room. It is a great book that over time your child will be able to help read it too.

  2. Love You Forever by: Robert Munsch

Love you forever is a great read for bedtime or anytime actually. But, it's about the stages a boy goes through from infant to youth and loving him always on good days and on bad days. Love You Forever, for me is more of a book that helps me express my love for my children regardless if they are having a great day or a very bad day.

  3. Where The Wild Things Are by: Maurice Sendak

Now this is a book that I loved when I was a kid. Funny, my brother whom is younger was scared of the book, which I guess some are. Where The Wild Things are is a book that illustrates beautifully the imagination of a young boy Max, who was sent to his room after causing havoc throughout the house.

These books listed above are only a select few that I have enjoyed reading to my kids and Grandbaby at bedtime but not everyone may agree. Where The Wild Things Are can seem scary to some kids and may leave them scared when you leave the room. Love You Forever and Goodnight Moon are two bedtime books that will be a hit with any young child, read, love, laugh and create wonderful lasting memories.
