The Best Heating & AC in Virginia

Published: November 12, 2013

As a desert rat from the southwest, I tend to get really rediculously cold when living on the east coast. I need to make sure that my house is kept at what I consider a reasonable temperature so my toes don't fall off, so here's a list of the people who keep me from getting frostbite.

  1. homeadvisor.com

Before you really get into the fixing/repair, you're going to need to know who does what, where. Homeadvisor.com compares companies to match with your specific needs, so you don't waste time calling a chimney guy when you need your gas pipes repaired.

  2. Virginia Heating and air

Inexpensive, responsive, and friendly. Frequent discounts on various services, worth contacting them before something breaks. Make sure that you talk about delaying the payment before writing them off as a loss, you're not going to want to be without heating 'cuz you were nervous.

  3. A-1 heating and air conditioning

Fast, and I mean fast. They were in and out in less than an hour, they know what they're doing. They don't waste time trying to sell you something you don't need, they figure out what's wrong, quote it, fix it, and you're nice and toasty before your waffles have gotten cold.

  4. Sherman's heating and AC

Another quick one. More than reasonabe scheduling hours, decent price. Available any time for anything, even on weekends and some holidays. You don't have to worry about freezing 'cuz you can get it when you need it. Say hi to Bob for me.

  5. F.H. Furr

Fixed first time they were out. Reasonable price, fast, efficient. They'll tell you exactly what went wrong if it's something you did (oi) so you won't have to suffer next time. Friendly, though, didn't make me feel like an idiot for something that should've been obvious.

Whichever one you decide to use, make sure you've at least checked home advisor. It's an easy way to narrow down your search, and the little bit of time it takes to fill out the information cards is well worth it to not have to go through some of the crap I've had to in the past.
