Upstate Pizza That Rocks!

Published: November 18, 2013

Being a pizza fanatic, i search high and low for small, family owned pizza that satisfies my needs for variety, quality, and unique flavor. In a day and age of heavy corporate takeovers in the food industry, places like these are a gem.

Where possible, i have incuded websites or facebook pages, and i always put in the address.

  1. Joe's New York Pizza in Seneca

Mouth watering, local and a fun place to go! Joe's has been a top rated local pizza store for 3 years straight. Not only do they have a good menu, they support many of the local school and kids sports teams. For many of us, that community involvement is the clincher in choosing a local ma and pa over the big chains.

  2. The Carolina Pizza Co. in Fair Play

With an amazing menu and quiet location, i love going here. They have some funny combinations, but you can't resist the adventure if you're like me. They ARE pricey, but worth the money!

  3. New York Pizza & Pasta

Independent, fairly pricey, but worth the trip! NYP&P is one of my favorite stops while working in and around Anderson. The 2 large toppings with one item for 12$ makes it failry reachable though.

located at 194 Civic Center Blvd, Anderson, SC 29625

  4. Todaro pizza in Clemson

Oh MY! This place has one of my favorite specialty pizzas! Chicken & Broccoli fra Diavolo (of the devil)! Spicy, full of flavor, and worth every penny!

They are located at 105 Sloan St, Clemson, SC 29631

  5. Fratelli's in Easley

Started by Franco Fratelli, an honest to God Italian immigrant, Fratelli's is authentic Italian food.

Real Italian pizza (pcrued below) is different than standard American faire.

Thankfully, Fratalli's has a buy one get one special, amking the cuisine affordable to us all!

Fratalli's is located at 5284 Calhoun Memorial Hwy, Easley, SC 29640

  6. Cannone's in Salem

Located in Salem, this is one that you need to judge for yourself. In 2 visits, i had one awesome, and one that was way short of stellar. Pricing is ok, but not great. IMHO, i would try it again if i was in their neck of the woods, but not go out of my way for it.

  7. The Mellow Mushroom in Greenville

In my opinion, one of the best pizzas in the Upstate, Mellow has another item going for it. the atmosphere in there is just..well, surreal. Giant trees and mushrooms populat the art and The Tables! I can only say someone must have loved living in the 60's!

Their menu is fantastic, and you cna tell by how crowded it gets most nights. Ona  typical thursday, i cna expect a 45 minute wait for a table. I don't mind. The food is well worth the wait.

  8. Venus Pie in Spartanburg

The heavenly smell as you walk in will tell you everything you need to know. I can't say enough good about here! the prices are decent, the speacialty pizzas amazing, and the service goes above and beyond expectations! If you're in Spartanburg, you have to try it to believe it!

  9. Gem City Pizza in Myrtle Beach

A small chain, like Mellow Mushroom, Gem City provides a great deal of bang for the buck. Choosing a square, rather than round, medium, they pour on the toppings.

located at 819 Main St, Myrtle Beach, SC 29577

  10. Stone Pizza, Rock Hill

located at 2260 Crosspointe Dr, Rock Hill, SC 29730, Stone Pizza is amazing! The Strombolli is to kill for! And the Shrimp Pizza was fantastic!

Hand stretched, with plenty of attention to detail, this is much of what Pizza should be!
