Top 10 Reasons to Become a Christian

Published: February 22, 2015

Every one of us thinks about questions such as these some time during our lives. They are big questions, with real value and importance. Every human has certain longings in their hearts that set them on a quest to find answers to that which they cannot understand. This quest, I would like to suggest, finds its end and ultimate fulfillment when an individual finds out who Jesus Christ is. He is the one who gives us meaning and value. The following article gives the top 10 reasons why you should take another look at Christianity this year, and impact it will make on your every day life.

  1. You Get to Know the Creator of the Universe!

The first reason to convert to Christianity is that in doing so you get to know the God who created all things! The God who created the heavens and the earth, the all-powerful One who stretched out the sky and hung the stars when there was nothing. This beautiful, creative, and exceedingly great God wants us to know and experience him. We were all made to be fascinated by something, to look in awe at something that we utterly cannot understand. This is exhilarating and is one of the greatest joys of Christianity!

"After these things the word of the LORD came to Abram in a vision, saying, 'Do not fear, Abram, I am a shield to you; I am your exceedingly great reward."' Genesis 15:1

  2. You Get to Know the Most Joyful Man to Ever Live.

Are you wanting more joy in your life? Do you live in depression day after day with seemingly no way out? The answer for your yearning to experience joy is found in Jesus. The bible tells us in Hebrews 1:8-9 that Jesus was the most joyful man to ever live.

What would it be like being around the happiest man alive? Jesus was always full of life and passion. He always said encouraging word to those around him and took time to invest into them. He laughed, smiled, and enjoyed life with a heart that was free to love others. This same love and joy that those around Jesus in the bible experienced is available to all Christians today. This is a wonderful reason to convert to Christianity!

  3. You No Longer Have to Feel Shame or Condemnation

Romans 8:1 tells us that “There is therefore now no condemnation for those who are in Christ Jesus.” Everyone messes up at some point in their lives and does something they wish they could go back and change. Many struggle with thoughts of guilt and shame related to who they are and the choices they have made in life. Christianity promises that a person doesn't need to think about these things any more. Jesus has forgiven all sins of those who accept him and freed them from the burden of living with heaviness and depression. How amazing would life be if you no longer had to live in darkness and despair?

  4. You Do Not Have To Fear

The bible tells us that Christians do not have to be afraid of anything. God tells us in 1 John 4:18 that, “There is no fear in love. But perfect love drives out fear, because fear has to do with punishment.” Christians do not have to live perpetually afraid! God shows them his great love that motivates them to trust in him and not fear. Anxiety and common fears such as fear of the unknown, fear of what others think about you, and fear of lack are destroyed in Christ. You can trust in God fully and be freed from the crippling power of fear!

  5. You Can Know You Will Live With God Forever

1 Thessalonians 4:15-18 tells says, “For the Lord himself will come down from heaven with a commanding shout, with the voice of the archangel, and with the trumpet call of God. First, the believers who have died will rise from their graves. 17 Then, together with them, we who are still alive and remain on the earth will be caught up in the clouds to meet the Lord in the air. Then we will be with the Lord forever. 18 So encourage each other with these words.”

Christians can rejoice in this life knowing that they will eventually live with Jesus and enjoy him forever. This is their glorious hope and gives their lives meaning and value as they look forward to the day of his return.

Romans 8: 28 tells us that, “We know that for those who love God all things work together for good, for those who are called according to his purpose.”

Because of this Christians can fully trust God, that no matter what happens in their life, and know that he will help them in their hard times. When troubles and pain in life comes, Christians can trust God and speak out the truth that God is watching over them and leading them perfectly. The trials they experience are shaping them into a person of strength.

  7. You Can Love and Enjoy Yourself

Have a new found love for who you are as a person

Psalm 139: 14 tells us, “I praise you because I am fearfully and wonderfully made; your works are wonderful, I know that full well.”

Psalm 139: 14 tells us, “I praise you because I am fearfully and wonderfully made; your works are wonderful, I know that full well.”

This verse gives us confidence that each us are made uniquely by God. He personally made us perfectly the way we are. He planned out our personality, our talents, our emotional make up and made us beautiful in his eyes. Because of this, Christians do not have to compare themselves to others, but can love themselves because they are made in God's image. When we love ourselves we are filled with great joy and vigor to live each day to its fullest.

  8. You Get to Form Deep and Loving Friendships

Christianity is not a individualistic faith, but is a faith where you are part of the God's community on the earth. This community, called the Church, is based on forming deep friendship where there is mutual joy and encouragement. There is much joy in having people in your life whom you can fully trust and know will have your back in hard times.

  9. You Get to Hear God's Voce

John 10:27 assures us of the great joy that all believers get to hear God's voice! Imagine that! You get to hear the voice of the one who created all things. You get to hear the voice of the God who loves you with an everlasting love, and gave us his life for you on the Cross. Psalm 139 tells us that he has more thoughts of good towards us than there are grains of sand on the seashore. That is a lot of thoughts! Christians get to experience this great joy of knowing God by hearing what he has to say about them and the world they live in.

Isaiah 26:3 promises that God will keep the Christian is perfect peace when they set their mind of him. Thorough all of life's challenges wouldn't it be nice to have a deep sense of peace?

As you can see from the 10 examples above, relationship with God truly is an amazing gift that can have great impact in our lives. We get to know the God of all creativity and love. We get to grow to love ourselves and find great joy in friendships with others. We receive confidence to live our daily lives with hope and trust that God is with us and is working all things together for our good.
