10 Songs Every 90's Kid Still Knows by Heart
If you grew up in the 90's, there are certain things that have stayed with you through the years. Your love for ring pops, ecto cooler, snap bracelets, pogs, and Boy Meets World. You can still quote classic Disney movies like Aladdin, The Little Mermaid, and The Lion King. You remember the Cowboys when they weren't terrible. You remember crazy things like clear Pepsi and Pepsi Kona. What was wrong with regular old Pepsi, anyway? You remember a time before computers, before smart phones. When you wanted to hear a song, you had to wait for it to come on the radio, and hope that you could run to your boombox fast enough to hit the record button. And then hope the DJ didn't start talking over the end, making you rewind your tape to try again next time. Now, if you want to hear a song you can download or stream it with the click of a button. But some songs, you don't need to download. Some songs... like these songs, which you couldn't forget if you tried. If these songs came on the radio right now, you wouldn't be able to stop yourself from singing along. But my guess is that you don't need the radio. These are songs that have been ingrained in the head of every 90's kid so deeply, that I bet you can just hear them. I dare you to try not to!
Ice Ice Baby by Vanilla Ice
Before he went Amish (what is with the Amish thing anyway?), Vanilla Ice was a surprisingly good rapper. This song came out in 1990, but I can guarantee that as soon as you saw the title your mind immediately stopped... then proceeded to collaberate and listen.
Jump by Kris Kross
Ok, so there's not much to it, but who could forget that time when Kris Kross could make you jump, jump?
Hero by Mariah Carey
You know you sang this in front of your mirror, hairbrush in hand. Every. Single. Day.
Waterfalls by TLC
Remember Kenny in We're the Millers? He knew every word to Lisa "Left Eye"'s rap. And so did you.
Wannabe by The Spice Girls
Yo, I'll tell you what I want, what I really, really want. To forget the words to this song. But it will never happen. Ever.
One Week by The Barenaked Ladies
You spent HOURS sitting in your room, practicing saying "I summon fish to the dish, although I like the Chalet Swiss I like the sushi 'cause it's never touched a frying pan", without getting tongue tied. And you were great at it. And probably still are.
Baby One More Time by Britney Spears
Her loneliness is killing her, and how hot she looked in that schoolgirl outfit was killing you.
Genie In a Bottle by Christina Aguilera
You just can't bring up 90's Britney without 90's Christina. The rivalry was infamous, and most importantly, this song is burned into your brain.
It's Gonna Be Me by NSYNC
There is evidence of this every year on May 1st, when the infamous "it's gonna be May" meme starts making it's rounds and you can just HEAR Justin's voice in your head.
Barbie Girl by Aqua
I can't be the only one who hears this song EVERY time my kid plays with Barbies. Right?
You may spend the rest of your life trying to forget some of these songs. But you may as well give up now, because you will not succeed. You will forever be a Barbie girl, chasing waterfalls. And you know what? You just did just what I thought you were gonna do.
