The Best Restaurants To Cater From For Work (In Salt Lake City)
Trying to find new places to cater from for work can be challenging. The following list includes the top 6 places to cater from that will deliver to your location (in the Salt Lake City Valley), aren't too pricey, and won't look like you just ordered a bunch of happy meals from McD.
This restaurant has all of the charm of an individually owned restaurant and the capabilities of a chain restaurant. Catering with them is quick and simple. Their menu is affordable and varied. You can order from them and have Italian, American, Chinese, or Mexican. They have a great selection of salads, side dishes and desserts. You won’t regret ordering the Apple Pecan Bread Pudding Soufflé or the Stuffed Pork Loin with Mango Dijon Sauce.
Instead of ordering by person, you can place an order for a hearty or petite which would provide enough food for anywhere from 10 – 24 people.
They are easy to work with and are very friendly. (I personally believe the catered food is better than the food you are served in the restaurant proper.)

Star of India
Man, my mouth is watering just thinking of this place. If those you are catering for are okay with Indian food this place is the best…it’s even pretty good even if your office isn’t okay with Indian cuisine. You can get an awesome lunch meal for around $13 a person. My favorite is their Naan and their Samosas.
The only downside is that they do only serve Indian food, I’m lucky in that most people who I cater from enjoy this food.

Star of India Menu
This of course is a Utah favorite. (I personally feel like it is an acquired taste, after the third time you are certifiably addicted though) They have a good catering menu and will deliver. You can choose between tacos, enchiladas, wraps, and chile rellenos. You can add on nachos, dips, drinks, or desserts. My favorite is the key lime pie.
And the best part of ordering from them? For every $100 spent on catering you get a free meal voucher that you can redeem at any location! “Freee Meeealll!”
*This would be higher but I have had problems with them in the past. We’ve work through some issues of coming late and not giving the right amount of free meal vouchers but they will work with you on it.
Cafe Rio Catering
This one is pretty simple. No hassle, not a big mess. Simply soups, salads, and sandwiches. You have all the choices of their regular menu. Catering is simple and fast. I usually order a mix of sandwiches, a couple salads and a couple soups. Sadly, free strawberries and French bread does not come with your catering order but you can add these on as extras as well as other desserts.
Just like Café Rio, they have a catering rewards program (Rewards Program) which, if you order quite a bit is actually quite rewarding.
The only thing that I haven’t been satisfied with is at times some of the bottom sandwiches have gotten a little soggy in transport.
Cafe Zupas Menu
Sigh. This place is good. The food is good and the people who own and operate it are good. They are friendly and are eager to work out catering to meet your needs.
I usually get a spattering of pad thai, massaman Curry with tofu, pot stickers, spring rolls, satay, and of course I never forget the white sticky rice with custard for dessert.

This is just a great Chinese and Thai restaurant. They are easy to work with and provide you with plenty of food for your meeting. Their General Tao Chicken and Walnut Shrimp are pretty good but I think the real show stopper is their cream cheese wantons and pot stickers. *insert stomach rumble here*

Overall for reliability and ease, Citrus Grill is the clear winner. Their food is all over the globe, tasty, and affordable. You will most likely be able to hit your budget goals and satisfy all those who are eating.
Coming as runner ups would be Cafe Rio and Zupas for their rewards programs.
Star of India and Thai Garden will work well if you have an audience with more mature tastes. J Wong's will work well especially if you have a hungry group.
All of these places are easy to work with and will give you a superb endpoint.
Runner-ups that did not make the cut include: Magleby’s Fresh, Famous Daves, Apple Spice, Tandoor Grill, Macaroni Grill, and Saffron Valley.
