10 Best Reliable Craft Beers

Published: October 4, 2014

Are you a beer aficionado? Have you been dissapointed by brew that you spent lots of money on, got them home, and realized they weren't quite what you thought? Well, experience that slightly less by consulting this list of beers that I've found deliver their qualities consistently! Finally getting what you pay for, what a concept.

  1. Arrogant Bastard Ale - Stone Brewing Company

Arrogant Bastard Ale is a nicely hopped full bodied ale. At 7.2% ABV, you'll be feeling the bastard in no time.

  2. Dead Guy Ale - Rogue Ales

A session ale, Dead Guy is something of a cross between a Belgian ale and an IPA. Smooth and flavorful.

  3. Racer 5 IPA - Bear Republic Brewing Company

This beer is an agreessively hopped IPA, which dances on your palate like a happy dancer. At 7.5% ABV, it's no lightweight either.

  4. Punkin Ale - Dogfish Head

Many Pumpkin beers dissapoint this time of year, but not this one! At 7% ABV, this beer is a brown ale that delivers that fall spice flavor profile without taking away any of the smoothness of a brown ale. Enjoyed by craft beer drinkers and non-beer drinkers alike, Punkin Ale delivers.

  5. Steel Reserve - Steel Brewing Company

While Malt Liquor never wins any awards in the taste category, this wins awards for being remarkably clean on the palate. Remember in the case of malt liquor, taste gets buried. It is remarkably strong (8.1% ABV) and dirt cheap. If you're after Malt Liquor buy Steel Reserve, and save the money in your pocket for another beer variety.

  6. Ruination - Stone Brewing Company

This insanely hopped yet extremely well balanced beer is so named for the effect on the palate. Once you drink this, your tastebuds are used to the finer things in life for the rest of the night. Kinda like you just had fine belgian chocolate, and then started eating Hersheys. Ruination is tasty for all your hop lovers out there. At 8.2% ABV, you'll be feeling ruined in all sorts of ways.

  7. Bengali - Sixpoint Brewery

Bengali is hoppy beer, but it's balanced by malts very well. It's named for the tracings of foam is leaves around the glass in levels as you drink it. Always a stellar pick.

  8. Santa's Private Reserve - Rogue Breweries

Every year around Christmas, you can find this hiding amogst the other craft beers. At 6% ABV, Santa's Private Reserve isn't strong, but it's a tasty Amber ale, and the bottle glows in the dark.

  9. Dale's Pale Ale - Oskar Blues Brewery

Marketed as "Gonzo beer in a can" Dale's Pale Ale is a very hoppy 6.5% ABV IPA. Thick body but truly lives up to being a gonzo beer in a nondescript can.

  10. Saranac India Pale Ale - F.X. Matt Brewing Company

A beer from Upstate NY, Saranac India Pale Ale always has the taste of fresh hops - a very lively, not too "in your face" hop profile. Hard to find, once you do you'll be in love.

There's many craft beers out there - these just happen to be a few of the ones found that will not vary from season to season and not decrease in quality. Everyone's tastes are different - that's why there's such a variety. Go to it, internet beer snob!
