The Best MMORPG 2-D Games

Published: September 9, 2014

This is the top 10 best 2-d mmorpg of all time, this is gonna be based off Gameplay and my personal experience ofcourse. This list may or may not contain active servers or not but since it's the list of best 2d MMORPG's of all time I guess that factor doesn't count. Well here we go, if anybody has any suggestions you can always email me at

  1. Darkages

Dark Ages is the second MMORPG to be released by Nexon offshoot KRU Interactive with the first being Nexus: The Kingdom of the Winds. The game first appeared on the scene in 1999 and is based loosely on Celtic mythology and the works of horror writer H.P. Lovecraft. The visuals are similar to those of SNES era RPGs and have not aged particularly well. The interface, especially character movement, feel rough but old school gamers may experience nostalgia while playing Dark Ages. The game places a strong emphasis on player involvement by allowing players to help administer the world through a political system broken into Judicial and Legislative branches. There are five classes in the game and they are:

Warrior - Masters of physical force. Warriors have access to the most weapons and armor.

Wizard - Ranged spellcasters who wear weak armor. Wizards can enchant items.

Priest - Supportive class capable of healing, buffing, and enchanting allies.

Rogue - Indirect combatants who rely on speed and cunning. Rogues lay traps, can hide, polish gems, and unlock chests.

Monk - Practitioners of the martial arts. Monks mainly use their hands and feet in combat and are capable of transforming into animals.

  2. Nexus TK

    Nexus, th

  3. Dungeon Fighter

Dungeon Fighter Online originally was released in Korea and Japan, in 2005 and 2006 respectively, developed by Neople and currently published by Nexon. Planned to be a small game, and developed within five months, the public's response to this game greatly surprised the developers, and so the game was expanded. Assumedly, because of the overwhelming popularity of the game, an English version was planned and released June 9, 2010, by Nexon America. Using 2-dimensional "beat-em-up" gameplay and detailed sprite-style graphics, Dungeon Fighter boasted 300 million registered users as of May 25, 2011.

  4. Runescape

On the surface, RuneScape doesn't appear to offer much more than a hundred other fantasy-themed RPGs. Beyond its pleasant visuals and orchestral music (newly recorded for RuneScape 3), there's nothing to shout about narratively,

  5. Ragnarok

Ragnarok Online is a popular free 2D fantasy MMORPG based on Norse mythology inspired by the anime written by MJ Lee. Ragnarok Online was entirely pay to play but in October 2008 gravity launched a free to play server called Valkyrie (Valkyrie Server Client).

Players can select from a wide range of job classes (over 20) that suit their individual playing style. Each job class comes with a unique array of skills and abilities. The strengths and weaknesses of these classes encourages to players of different types to form parties.

Ragnarok Online is a great game with beautifull visuals and music. The game got so much fame that even the style is “copied” by other free MMORPG games like Secret of the Solstice and Water Margin Online.

  6. LaTale

Latale is a very fun game with plenty of classes and cool fast action! The soundtrack is beautiful and graphic style is very nice, however the community is rotten down to the core, everyone is lazy and greedy! The in-game market is so heavily over-priced and everyone just leeches and is un-friendly to new players, this is why the game is seeing a lot of people leave, they have no one to level with, items+gear cost way to much and scammers ripping un-knowledgeable players left and right.

The game also has issues if you live far from the server, basically if you are a EU player you will never be anywhere as good as a NA player simply because they will attack faster, move faster and with more precision then you because of latency. I was a level 195 before I got fed up with the community and market to the point where I could not stand it anymore.

Although the game has wonderful graphics and beautiful aesthetics it sadly lacks resolution options, you are locked at 800×600. In future updates its said to be increased however from what I heard it will not go above 1280×800. Also the game story is kinda funny at times but as always its pretty unnoticeable.

    Gameplay: 7/10

    Soundtrack: 8/10

    Aesthetics: 7/10

    Story: 5/10

    Community: 2/10

If/when you get to high level if you don’t mind spending money on Astro to sell, selling leech(this started the problem of inflation etc.) and can cope with the people who play this you will enjoy the game, however if you are someone who can’t play a game because of a bad community and inflated market then I wouldn’t recommend this at all.

Conquer Online was a very good game but TQ uses it as a cash cow now and that is it!! Bots run the show and kill the trade markets. TQ does nothing to counter the bots at all. They have told their customer base to make videos of the bots and host them on other sites to link to them. So if you are looking for a game that wants your money and have you as the customer do the job of the TQ reps as well … then this would be perfect for you. But if you are a customer that demands a company provide protection to the customers… forget it!!

Bots killed this game. It takes a legit player hours to complete a 15 min quest due to bots kill steal every 30 seconds.

If you want loads of stress then this is the game for you… If you like to piss away your time trying to complete a quest just to get robbed by bots .. well then this is your game.

Eudemons Online is a free to play 2D fantasy MMORPG with insanely fast leveling. A player can easily achieve level 15 within 10 minutes or so of playing, and continue leveling at a fast pace until level 40+. Eudemons Online closely resembles games like Diablo 2 and Lineage in terms of graphics. The game’s background is set in a western fantasy world blended with oriental aesthetic perspectives. In this mythical world, you can choose between becoming a Warrior, a Mage or Paladin. Command your hero to venture forth across the vast expanse that is Yartland and prove your power by magic or might.

Numerous Eudemons, unique forging and castle systems, a unique mentor, family, and legion programs, and a myraid of other interesting features guarantees highly interactive arresting gameplay!

This game maybe not shines with graphics or content, but it’s a wanderful MMO if you are looking for game where you could chat with other people for hours.

Chat system in there is simply amayzing. Maybe even the best i ever seen in all MMO’s. With hiperactive and wonderfull emotions what you will find in game, you will never will be left without chance to fully show off you emotions.

This is perfect game where to make friends and chat with them about serious and also dum and funny things for hours. If you love to chat with other people when playing MMO’s, try this out, you will become addicted!

  10. NosTale

I’m playing in NosTale for 4 and half year now and it’s just amazing.

Auto-route would crash this game by making ppl even more lazy, many games dont have this thing and work perfectly, but tbh auto-route is good but only in full 3D games with huge maps which NosTale dont have so …

What i love in NosTale is job system. You can play as archer but Your not dependent by only one set of skills/powers. Being archer You can be Ranger, Assassin, Destroyer, Wild Keeper and now Cannon Shooter, all by Specialist Cards. Every card using different element out of 4, dark, light, fire ,water.

Well this concludes my list of top 10 2-D mmorpg I hope you guys enjoyed it :D
