Top 10 Best Places to Shop Online

Published: August 11, 2014

This list is about my top ten best places to shop online when you're looking for a deal. Some things may be more expensive at certain stores in this list than others, but overall these are the best places to find the best deals online.

  1. Amazon

Since it's launch in 1995, Amazon has grown to be the world's largest online retailer. You can find anything on Amazon, ranging from Books to Furniture, Electronics, and much more. What makes Amazon stand out from the hundreds of thousands of stores online is the vast selection of products and the prices they set forth. For example, Store A may have a product that has an estimated retail value of $59.99. Often, Amazon would have the same product for less, due to having multiple sellers and cheap shipping options for sellers. If you are looking for the place to find great deals on a range of products, Amazon is definitely the way to go.

  2. eBay

eBay has, over the years, become a household name. Some may say it is as popular as the search engine "Google." eBay has gained a reputation for having great deals on products. You may ask why, and it is the same as Amazon in this respect: There is not a single store selling the items, but rather hundreds of thousands of people offering a wide variety of products. Some of these items may be used, while others may be brand new. Not only that, but it also has two ways to buy items. One of the ways you can buy items is an "Auction", where people bid on an item until a determined time. With some skill, you can buy products that cost well under their retail value and get some great deals. The other way you can buy products is known on eBay as the "Buy It Now" option. With this option, you can shop onliune the traditional way by purchasing the product and paying for it without any other factors involved. eBay is a great place to shop online if you are looking for deals.

  3. Newegg

Are you the type of person who loves electronics? Then Newegg is the choice for you. While other stores may have lower prices on certain products, Newegg has a great selection of electronics and other items and they are often priced below the ESRP of the item. Manufacturers often offer their rebates on products, and Newegg allows you to take advantage of them by providing information on which products have the rebates. They even have an option to sign up for a newsletter which usually contains a bunch of promotional codes on items, ranging from discounts to combos. Newegg is a great place to shop for electronics, and you will definitely want to check them out.

  4. Wal-Mart

In addition to having many stores in the U.S., they also have a way to shop online. You can find a variety of products, usually at low prices. Wal-Mart does offer sellers a way to sell their products on it's website, but for the majority of the items, you are purchasing from one of their warehouses. It is a great place to find deals, as well as avoid risk. Since they are a reputable business without many sellers, you can be fairly certain that you are getting what you pay for, unlike eBay where sometimes you may pay for a brand new item and get a broken item, or even nothing at all. It isn't the best place to find deals, but it is a great place to avoid risk, and as such it deserves its place.

  5. Best Buy

Another big name that has plenty of stores around the U.S., in addition to the online stores. It is a great place if you are looking for general electronics such as computers, game consoles, mobile phones, tablets, and much more. You may not always find what you are looking for, but that is rare. They often have discounts and promotions that will make it cheaper for you to purchase your products, which is a plus. Their site-to-store option also makes it easy to order online and go to the store to pick your item(s) up. Overall, it has plenty of history and is a great shopping experience.

  6. Barnes and Noble

While not as popular as as some of the other names listed here, Barnes and Noble is a great place to find books. If you are looking for a certain book, chances are you will be able to find it. They also have many physical stores in addition to their online store, which makes it widely available. Overall, if your looking for books to read, your going to find them here.

  7. Gap

If you are into fashion, you probably have heard of GAP. What you may not know is that the company has been in business since 1969, so they have plenty of experience in the fashion industry. They often have popular brand names, in addition to their own branded clothing. If your looking for a great online shopping experience for clothing and accessories, GAP is definitely the way to go.

  8. Toys R Us

Toys R Us is well known for having plenty of toys to choose from (hence the name). You can find anything from plush toys to electronics on their website. If you cannot find a toy for your child here, then chances are it doesn't exist. They aren't well known for having a ton of discounts, but if you are looking for that set of LEGO's that you can't seem to find anywhere or a popular board game such as Monopoly, you'll more than likely find it here. In addition to their online store, they have plenty of physical stores in many different locations.

  9. GameStop

Also known as EB Games, GameStop is a great place to find and purchase brand new games, consoles, and accessories, as well as to trade in your old used games, consoles, and accessories. If you're the type of person who doesn't mind purchasing used electronics, then this is one of the best places to find deals on video games. As for selling your used video games? Not so much. While it is fairly easy to trade them in, you won't get much for them unless they are in demand. Overall, it is a great place if you are a gamer looking for the tools of the trade.

  10. Overstock

Overstock is an online market for just about anything you can think of. From Electronics to Furniture, this store has everything. What's even better than that? They have plenty of great deals if you look hard enough. If you cannot find a product on this website, then you're not looking hard enough. This place is great for just about all of your purchasing needs, and all in one central hub. Overall, it definitely isn't the best, but it deserves to be mentioned.

Out of the top 10 best places to shop online, the number one spot goes to Amazon. It has been around for over a decads, and unlike eBay, has a better reputation for selling products that are not broken or as advertised. You can find just about anything that exists on the website, and navigating the website is a bit easier than some of the other site listed here. If your shopping online, you should definitely try Amazon.
