10 Best Stores for Fashionable Plus Sized Women

Published: August 1, 2014

Do you struggle in department stores, trying to find yourself a cute top or a flattering pair of jeans just once? Do you hate that they always seem to be out of your size in the one top that you actually like? Ladies, we have all been down that road. If you want fashion and you are a big beautiful woman, this is the list that will help get you on your way! Maybe you have heard of some of these stores, maybe some of them are new to you, either way, check them out! You won't be dissapointed!

  1. Torrid

Torrid is a personal favorite of mine, a little punk, a little prep and a slew of cute and trendy clothes that will make you stand out from the crowd in a way that tells the world you know just what's going on. They have got a fantastic rewards program called DivaStyle and a credit card to match. If you are a rebel without (or with) a cause, then look for one near you!

  2. Avenue

If you are looking for plus sized fashionable, affordable and classy clothes, this is the place that you want. On the outside, it might seem like a place you want to bring your grandmother, but they have got super cute kicks and a stellar clearance section that won't bust your budget! There is also a credit card account that you can set up once you realize the fabulous discovery you have made.

  3. Ross

Ah, Ross. These stores are starting to pop up faster than Starbucks. One of the biggest perks I have found is its cute, well stocked plus sized clothing section. Not to mention, this is a store that sells name brands at severely marked down prices. You might not always find something, but when you do, you won't help but feel like you have hit the jackpot.

  4. Lane Bryant

Avenue's slightly more expensive cousin, Lane Bryant is the place you go when you want quality intimates, and have something majorly important coming up in your life (i.e. interview, engagement, wedding, anniversary). You will find everything from shoes to panties to dresses. Not to mention their sales are to die for. Get on their mailing list and find out when one is happening near you!

  5. Forever 21

This is a more recent discovery of mine. If you are younger, hipster, or just really enjoy cute clothes that won't cost you an arm and a leg, I definitely suggest hitting up Forever 21 or Forever21.com. They have wickedly cute clothes and an assorment of shoes and accessories that will complete any outfit.

  6. Gwynnie Bee

Gwynnie Bee is an online closet. For a monthly fee, you can find adorable clothes, add them to your closet and have them shipped to you. If you like it, you have the option to buy it, and if you don't, send it back and trade it for something else. The sky is the limit!

  7. Old Navy

Who doesn't know this store? I've recently discovered their lovely selection of plus sized clothing, ranging from dresses to pants to really cute tops. The thing I love about Old Navy is that they mostly offer the same stuff in the bigger sizes that you'll see on the smaller mannequins. (Seriously, am I the only one who notices that?)

  8. Deb

Deb is the store split down the middle for teens and young adults, from size 0 to 26. Affordable, brightly fashionable and stocked with more accessories than you could ever possibly need, Deb is where you go when you want to add a little flare to your wardrobe. Search for one near you today!

  9. Dots

Oh, Dots. There's not enough praise I can give to this store. With clothes so cute and in season you won't know what to do with yourself, you might as well scaddadle your cute butt over to one of these stores and see for yourself. I vow that your wallet will thank you later. They're popping up everywhere, or so it seems, so look for one near you now!

  10. Dress Barn

If you need a plus size dress, this is where you go. For every occasion, Dress Barn will have you leaving in style, regardless of your age or size. It might a bit on the pricey end, but they've got a fabulous layaway program that won't have you stressing over the bill. Hit up a Dress Barn near you today!

In conclusion, if you enjoy looking cute, if you prefer clothes that won't shrink after one go in the wash, if you want to feel like the goddess that you inherently are, then check out these stores listed above. It's time to stop dressing in ugly sacks and hideous bedazzled animal print, just because it's marked down in the pathetic plus size section of that mega store near you. You deserve to feel comfortable and beautiful, so let your clothes reflect just what you are. You might just find yourself a treasure trove of clothing that you didn't realize you had.
