Fire ants in northern Texas are a common event that can be a threat to your family and your pet's management and firefighters can be difficult. Ants are a frightening reality of life in the south. Their painful and pungent bites can be particularly harmful for people who are allergic and have been known to hurt or even kill livestock and pets. Often fire ants build their colonies in electrical equipment, such as air conditioners and output boxes. Between ants chew on cables and soil that ants come into the equipment, they can cause serious damage.
Fire ants can also be detrimental to your grass when they build their colony there. If you have found their big mounds in your lawn, you know how to be searched. In addition to the potential hazard of your family and pets, these mounds are an aesthetic nightmare. Film ants are effective when it comes to building these mounds. They were known to do up to 300 in a section of an acre. You may think that you have eliminated them when you no longer see their mounds, but they can always be underground or moved to a new location. Fire ants will move their mounds on the surface or underground according to moisture levels.
Fire ants look like many useful and indigenous ant species. That's why it's important to ask a professional to diagnose the problem. The workers' fire ants generally have brilliant black abdomenas with the rest of their body being a dark reddish brown. Most are between 1/16 and ¼ inch long. Knowing what type of ant infestating your court will greatly help you help effectively solve the problem.
Many people try to eliminate the fire ants of their yard by treating individual mounds. We found that this approach is not as effective as the use of a broadcast method that addresses a larger area. When the problem is particularly severe, we can recommend the dissemination of a fire drop twice a year, then to follow individual world treatments for these really stubborn colonies.
On the basis of scientific evidence and our own experience, we believe that several fire bait applications are often the most effective method of treatment. Fire ants confuse the bait for food and they bring back to their colony where it is ingested by the queen. The poison effectively erases the colony. When applied in spring and fall, this approach is profitable and very environmentally friendly. Customers often see the effects of bait application in just a few days. As a general rule, it is not necessary to follow up with an individual treatment of Mondia, because the bait is so effective.
