The 5 best animated films from Warner Bros

Published: April 2, 2014

Not every animated film comes from Disney or Pixar. There are many studios creating great films in animation. The criteria I used for this list were the film must have been released in the theaters in the US, must have been released by Warner Bros., and must be mostly animated. Warner Bros has many DC animated movies that are released straight to video and those movies will not be included on this list though many of them are very good.

  1. The Iron Giant (1998)

The Iron Giant is a clssic story of a boy and a giant robot. I have seen it at least a hundred times. The animation is very slick and captures the time period of the cold war very well. You may or may not know that Vin Diesel is the voice of the giant robot. It is also directed by Brad Bird who also brought us The Incredibles. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Iron_Giant

  2. Space Jam (1996)

I know what you are saying, "This isnt animation!" And you are technically right. I count it as animation because 80% of the movie takes place in an animated world. I can say for an athlete Michael Jordan did not embarass himself in this performance. Bill Murray is excellent as always. The sound track is one of the best. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Space_Jam

  3. Batman: Mask of the Phantasm (1993)

If you have not seen this and are a fan of Batman you have missed a real gem. It has the same style as the Batman Animated series which is simple but the animation is crisp even it the onscreen characters lack detail. This is a fairly dark Batman tale but worth a look. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Batman:_Mask_of_the_Phantasm

  4. The Lego Movie (2014)

EVERYTHING IS AWESOME!!! is my favorite song ever since I watched this movie. It is far more humorous than it deserves. I am shocked by the quality of this movie. I honestly did not know what to expect and was wowed. Best movie I have seen in 2014 thus far. Kids and adults will love this movie. And it has Morgan Freeman's voice. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Lego_Movie

  5. Osmosis Jones (2001)

Lawrence Fishburne is great as the villain. This is one of the few films that star Chris Rock that I would recommend viewing. It has drama, suspense, and Bill Murray. Bill Murray makes most things better. I know what you are going to say, "It has live action and animated sequences and should not be on this list." I disagree it has enough animation for my list. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Osmosis_Jones

I know you may have issue with me for including Osmosis Jones and Space Jam on this list but I think they are valid for my list. I hope you will at least check out The Iron Giant it is a great movie. Bill Murray really is a great performer.
