10 Best Animated Films from Dreamworks Animation

Published: April 1, 2014

There are many studios creating memorable works that are not named Disney or Pixar. I would like to share some of the finest.

  1. Shrek (2001)

Shrek is a classic and I know you know all the words. So let us move on.

  2. The Prince of Egpyt (1998)

This film tells the story of Moses. It is clearly an attempt to out do Disney. It fails in that endeavor. It is a very good movie done with very good traditional animation for the most part. And the soundtrack is pretty good. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Prince_of_Egypt

  3. How to Train Your Dragon (2010)

To fully appreciate this one I suggest the 3D version. I rarely like 3D but this is very well done in my opinion. No songs and that suits me just fine. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/How_to_Train_Your_Dragon_(film)

  4. Chicken Run (2000)

Supringly funny. It is done using claymation which may not be enjoyable to everyone but it is hilarious.http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Chicken_Run

  5. Madagascar (2005)

This is one of the only movies with Chris Rock that I paid to see. I personally think the movies that feature him are unfunny. Madagascar is the exception to the rule. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Madagascar_(2005_film)

  6. The Road to El Dorado (2000)

Rosie Perez, Kevin Kline, and Kenneth Branagh are superb. This is a vibrant colorful film. It doesnt get as much repsect as it should but I love it.

  7. Kung Fu Panda (2008)

Jack Black is perfect as Po. He is loveable and courageous. The real show stealer is Dustin Hoffman as Shi Fu. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Kung_Fu_Panda

  8. Puss in Boots (2011)

This is a spin off from the Shrek movies. The is a prequel about Puss in Boots before he meets Shrek. Antonio Banderas is great as Puss. This is a fun movie that shares those great dance numbers of shrek. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Puss_in_Boots_(2011_film)

  9. Shrek 2 (2004)

Yes Shrek and Donkey are back. There is singing and dancing and action and adventure and all the other things that make you love this Shrek movies. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Shrek_2

  10. Shrek Forever After (2010)

The story is complex. Shrek is having a midlife crisis. His journey helps him discover what is important. And "Do the roar is" hilarious. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Shrek_Forever_After

I know the list was Shrek heavy. I apologize but you must admit they are very good. There is a good reason they made over $1.2 billion in the US alone.
