The Best Places to Eat of Sea Isle City

Published: March 16, 2014

Sea Isle City is a lesser known town at the Jersey Shore. It is situated between Ocean City and Avalon. While many families prefer to spend their time in Ocean City or Wildwood, they are truly missing out on all the Sea Isle has to offer. There are various restaurants, different activities every day of the week, miles of beautiful white sand beaches, and is truly a place for the whole family to have fun. This list will review some of the Best of Places to Eat in Sea Isle City. The restaurants and food establishments will be judged on atmosphere, menu offerings, prices, quality of service, typical wait time and overall food quality.

  1. Mike's Seafood

The Jersey Shore wouldn't be the Jersey Shore without a good seafood establishment. And Mike's Seafood is one of the very best on the island. The dockside atmosphere is simply fantastic. It's a great spot to go and grab a meal family style while watching the sunset across the bay. The style of the restaurant is laid back with picnic benches and a roll of paper towels at every table. And even better is the fact that it's BYOB. They have a large selection of items on their menu from shrimp, scallops, lobsters, crab cakes and even chicen fingers for the non seafood folks all at reasonable prices. Their signature item is their crabcake sandwhiches. The service is great, waiters are alwasy around checking in on you and offering to opening drinks and truly dedicated to a great overall experience. Wait time for food is fast but if you plan on eating at the dockside you could spend up to an hour in line. However, they do offer a take out option so on those really crowded nights you can take the same great quality of food back to your own place.

  2. Azzurra's Pizzeria

This Pizzeria has the best pizza that you will find on the island and I would even dare to say in any of the shore towns around Sea Isle. The owner is an immigrant from Italy and he brought with him the Italian knowledge of how a pizza should be made. The pizza has a doughy and airy consistency that makes you keep going back for slice after slice. If you are a fan of wings, Azzurra's chicken wings are the perfect pairing to any pizza pie. If you're looking for a sandwhich or cheesesteak they have plenty of other offerings that live up to the standards set by their pizza pies. The restaurant has undergone renovations in recent years and they have provided a nicer atmosphere complete without outside bistro type seating. Their prices are competively priced with other food establishments of the same nature and no matter how busy they are, you never wait more than 40 minutes for your order and they always have a smile on their face.

  3. Shoobies

Shoobies is a traditional throw back style restaurant to the goodness that was everything 60's and 70's. Although they are open all day long, the best offering that they have is their breakfast. You can either choose to sit at their counter and have your meal their or at one of their booths or tables. But no matter where you sit you're guaranteed to get the same fantastic experience and have the opportunity to take in the decor. The restaurant has posters and records covering all of the walls. There is a juke box in the corner that is usually always playing some kind of oldies classic. They have an extensive menu of offerings. My personal favorite is their homemade Belgium waffles topped with fruit. I promise you that this is the only place at the Jersey shore where your breakfast will come with yellow Watermelon. Yes I said Yellow Watermelon, and no it isn't some kind of illusion. Their prices are on the cheap side for being at the shore and their staff is always friendly and know the menu inside and out should you have any questions. Most mornings you can find a character walking around for their character breakfasts. This is truely a family establishmen that takes pride in their food and their service.

  4. Yum-Yums

Yum Yums is hands down the best ice cream shop in Sea Isle City. Located right in the center of town on JFK Boulevard one block off the beach it is a staple of your vacation in Sea Isle City. No week at the shore is complete without a trip to Yum Yums. While all their offerings can be a bit overwhelming written all over the blackboards that cover all walls of the shop, they are guaranteed to have something to meet the tastes of nearly everyone. They are most well known for the wide array of Sundae's and their Pig Trough, which features over 15 scoops of ice cream and countless toppings that is actually served in a spackle trough. It's a cheap alternative for larger families. It is typical for the line at Yum Yum's to stretch down the block; but I promise you it will be worth the wait. And typically the earlier in the evening that you go the shorter your wait time will be. Yum Yum's ice cream is a staple of Sea Isle City with a cherry on top.

  5. The Perfect Brew

While Sea Isle lacks the presence of a Dunkin Donuts it's no big deal if you visit the Perfect Brew. They offer a traditional rich roast of coffee that is brewed fresh throughout the day. Located on the Promenade, it offer's the perfect location to sit and enjoy a cup of coffee while taking in the beauty of the beach and the sounds of the waves. The atmosphere both inside and outside on the deck provides you with the feeling of an intimate traditonal coffee shop. Whether you fancy a traditional cup of coffee, espresso, smoothie, or some kind of fancy lattee drink the Perfect Brew is ready to meet your needs and surpass your expectations. In addition to their drink menu they feature many home made breads, cookies, brownies, and breakfast sandwhiches all made fresh in shop. Their prices are fairly resonable and one of their best unknown secret is their lunch sandwhiches. They offer a wide variety of panini's for the lunch time crowd. All of the staff greet you with smiling faces from the moment you walk through the door all the way to the time your order is completed. Considering the crowd that they can draw in the mornings, they are very efficient at getting my order out quick all with no mistakes. The Perfect Brew should be any coffee lovers first stop each morning.

While Sea Isle City offers a variety of restaurants, all unique in their specialty, type, and atmosphere those compiled above are some of the best that the island has to offer. Over the years I have seen various restaurants come and go from one summer to the next. Those listed above have managed to stick around for multiple seasons for one simple reason, they are the best in what they have to offer. If you're taking a trip to Sea Isle City at the Jersey Shore this summer take the guess work out of planning meals and deliberating over menus and be sure to visit those listed above. I promise you will not be disappointed.
